SIU (2-1-2) is returning to Lew Hartzog Track and Field Complex for their next game after traveling to Kansas City last Thursday. They suffered their first loss by a 2-0 score to a good team in the Roos, who were in control for most of the game and finally executed on their chances. KC lived on the Salukis’ side of the field, having 19 shots and 7 of them on goal compared to the Dawgs only getting 6 off and 1 towards the net. The Roos’ first score didn’t come until the 55th minute in the second half and then they sealed their victory by tacking another goal on in minute 78. Goalkeeper Fabiana Solano once again played all 90 minutes; she’s done so in all 5 games so far this season. She tallied six saves but wasn’t able to be perfect with the ball pressure that Kansas City was able to generate. Although they couldn’t get the victory, the team feels good about how they competed and looks to rebound in their next game. With a week off, the Dawgs will take on North Alabama back on their home turf (2-1) on Thursday, Sept 5 at 6 pm.
