Soccer Prepares for Tough Conference Matchups

By: Howard Woodard

Women’s soccer (4-2-3) will head back on the road after four home games in a row to take on Indiana State on Thursday, September 26 at 4pm. The Sycamores are 6-2-2 and have scored 23 goals on the year, so it will be a good matchup for a Saluki team that has hung its hat on the defensive side of the ball so far this season. It was the story of their last matchup against Illinois State last Thursday as that one ended in a 0-0 draw where there were only three shots on goal. The Dawgs racked up 14 fouls, continuing to be physical on the pitch and not allowing their opponents to get anything easily. After they play Indiana State, SIU will return home for Senior Day on Sunday, September 29 at 1pm as they will welcome Murray State who is 4-3-2. There will be 11 women honored for their senior status as they’ll host the Racers before a two-game road trip.
