To get students into the Halloween sprit Black Art and Film (BAF), Black Men Coalition (BMC), and Dynasty Dance hosted a Halloween Pajama Game Night on Oct 29 in the Big Muddy Room.
Michael Burton, president of BAF said they wanted to put on this event to get more students into the Halloween spirit.
“We felt as though there needed to be more student engagement around Halloween, around the spirit. [...] So might as well bring everybody out for games, pajamas, a big pajama party,” he said.
Burton said there were a variety of activities for people to take part in from wrap the mummy, cup pong, and more.
To start off the night attendees painted pumpkins, played UNO, and played other games. After those activities concluded BMC, BAF, and Dynasty had three competitions, Wrap the Mummy, a skeleton egg relay race, and the cup game.
Fourth-year student Ashanti Matthews said Wrap the Mummy was her favorite event.
“The mummy game because it was funny to watch as well as joyful to see members of other organizations work together," she said.
The first game was Wrap the Mummy. All three teams had to pick one person from their team to be the mummy and wrap them as fast as they could in streamers. Dynasty Dance was declared the winner of the game.
Daniyah Tate, a fourth-year student, said while she enjoyed all the fun activities, it was great to see RSOs come together and support one another.
“I love coming to events where I see new faces. Getting to watch everyone have fun safely was the best part! It’s amazing what we can accomplish when we all come together,” she said.
Next up was the egg relay race, and even though only three teams competed against each other, you could still feel the excitement in the air. At the end, Dynasty Dance got another victory.
“I believe this event brings those different majors and backgrounds together," Matthews said.
